Some minor technical hitches later

I meant to have these up yesterday really I did. But my camera broke, then my mom's was missing its memory card and so I had to wait for my sister to bring hers down when she stayed over last night. Anyhow, the outside of the house is pretty much done in terms of painting anyway, I still have to put the front door in - but I need a bit more of the cream paint in order to finish the trim and I'm still undecided about what colour the front door should be so for now it will remain uninstalled. Especially since it has to be glued in place and I haven't painted the other side of the door yet. The roof needs tiling as well probably in dark grey but again I'm not too sure. Then I need to decide what I'm doing with the Garden I think it will be tiled in cream patio tiles but then what to do with the stairs?

The inside has been a bit easier, although the photos of it are not the best, my sister's camera is new and she's not quite got the hang of it yet. This is the little boys room which has a slight circus theme, the wallpaper has got clowns on it and there are other assorted circus items hidden within the room. The lights are

electrical but the lava lamp is a new addition which hasn't been installed yet and the rest of the lights don't work after one of my cats played with the transformer wire and disconnected it. So the lights are waiting until my uncle has time to resolder the connection onto the back.

The second room below is my kitchen which I adore, its a Glenowen kitchen which I ordinarily wouldn't be able to afford but it was half price at Tierneys so I managed to get it. Unfortunately they'd sold out of the full set so I'm missing a few pieces which I hope to pick up one day although I heard a rumour on the internet that they have now closed down so that may not be possible.I need to decide what to do with the floor in this room, I think tiles of some sort or possibly wooden flooring. The table set may not stay because it doesn't match the wood of the kitchen but I love it too much to get rid of it so I need to see where it can be reused.

And the final room for today is my dining room. This needs flooring as well and according to this picture a bit of wallpaper sticking down which I hadn't noticed before. I'm debating between cream carpeting to match the wallpaper which is less yellow that it appears here or red. Not sure if the red would be too dark when combined with the red/mahogany wood though. That's all for today folks.

First Post

I've started this blog to chart my progress on my dolls house, the Hazeldene by Gordon's Miniatures. Having had a number of dolls houses since I was ten, I sold them all to make room for the Hazeldene which was my Christmas present in 2007. In style it very much resembles the DHE's Grosvenor House although I believe it might be slightly larger as on its cabinet its over 6 ft tall.

This photo is of the Hazeldene is the one on the website and its very similar to mine but the front of my basement is slightly different as you will be able to tell from the pictures below.Despite getting the house well over a year ago progess on it has been slow, weighed down as I am by University and a part time job.

This was the dolls house shell as I got it although I did have all of the necessary windows and doors to add once the decoration had been done. Knowing that progress would be slow however I couldn't resist putting my furniture in so I could at least admire it until it was done.

To give you a better idea of size the thing to the side of the picture is half of my double bed!
Overall I was and still am very happy with my house although there have been a few teething problems with it as work has gone on, with some window spaces being slightly too small and some of the door holes slightly too wide but most of it can be fixed with a little sanding and a bit of trim, so I doubt it will show in the final product.
Hmmm looking at this photo reminds me of how much has changed - the dining room has now been moved to the opposite side of the house. The kitchen furniture has been replaced as has the master bedroom suite but you'll be able to see all of that when I take some photos of where the house is at now tomorrow. Till then so long.
